Boys, 7-13 years old

Set in 30 acres of beautiful grounds, Woodcote House School has been owned and run by my family for over 90 years and I am very proud to be the 4th member of the Paterson family to head the school. From September 2023, my nephew, Oliver Paterson, will take over as Headmaster, and I could not be more delighted. After 7 years working at the school, the last 3 as my deputy, and having grown up and been educated here, he knows the place inside out, and has all the necessary experience and ability to do a fantastic job.

I know that the ethos and aims of the school will remain the same. It has always been a family school, with the special atmosphere which that engenders, and will continue to be so.

Born and educated at Woodcote, I returned with my own young family over 30 years ago, and even though I will be stepping down as Headmaster, I will continue to work at the school, teaching a bit more, coaching sport, and helping to run the estate.

As I complete my tenure as Headmaster, I will continue to ensure that your boys thrive in a happy, stable and nurturing environment, with particular emphasis placed on the key values of hard work, good manners, tolerance and mutual respect.

Together with a dedicated and experienced staff, a stimulating and flexible curriculum and small class sizes, we enable boys to reach their full academic potential. The boys are also afforded a wealth of extra-curricular opportunities, with particular attention paid to sport, music, drama and art. I believe that Woodcote offers a unique education, laying the vital foundations to prepare the boys for the challenges that lie ahead, and giving them the necessary skills, confidence and enthusiasm with which to succeed.
